Wellness and Holistic Programs
Garden State Detox treats your physical, emotional, and mental health for a wholesome approach to recovery from substance use disorders.
At Garden State Detox, we believe in a unique approach to addiction recovery.
We combine proven medical detoxification methods with a multitude of effective holistic therapies, geared towards providing our clients with a comprehensive detox experience that is truly unlike any other. It has been repeatedly proven that traditional medical methods of detox, like Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and tapering, are the most effective when carefully combined with a range of holistic therapies. Wellness is integrated – at Garden State Detox, we believe in effectively treating physical, emotional and mental health, while laying a solid foundation for fulfilling, long-term sobriety.
From the very beginning, providing comprehensive care has always been our main priority. We believe that wellness is integrated, and that the most effective detox programs combine quality clinical care with proven holistic techniques. Withdrawal symptoms from drugs and alcohol can be extremely uncomfortable, and in some cases they can prove to be life-threatening if not adequately treated by an experienced team of professionals.
At Garden State Detox, we conduct an in-depth evaluation of each individual client upon their admission. This evaluation will help us determine whether or not Medication Assisted Treatment is necessary, how long the withdrawal process is likely to last and whether or not additional services – such as psychiatric care – will be necessary.
Each client will be closely monitored by a team of medical professionals over the course of the entire detox process. Symptoms of withdrawal will be treated as they arise. We utilize a wide range of proven detoxification techniques, from Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and tapering to holistic methods like nutrition therapy, massage therapy and a thorough introduction to the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. We understand that the severity of withdrawal symptoms will be different for everyone. While one client may want to participate in all provided groups and classes, another may benefit more from relaxing in his or her semi-private and expertly decorated bedroom.
Below are some of the wellness-related therapy services we offer our patients during the medical detoxification process.
Acupuncture Therapy
Acupuncture has been repeatedly proven to assist in the alleviation of physical and emotional symptoms associated with alcohol and drug withdrawal. A main facet of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture involves inserting thin, sterilized needles into the skin at known pressure points throughout the body. One of the biggest assets of this specific holistic modality is its undeniable ability to reduce psychological cravings, making it especially invaluable to individuals who have been suffering from opiate addiction. Acupuncture has also been shown to help regulate the mood swings that tend to go hand-in-hand with withdrawal and facilitate improved emotional balance. We have a licensed and accredited acupuncturist come to our luxury-style detox facility several times per week, and clients will have the opportunity to participate if they are feeling up to it.
Message Therapy
Drug and alcohol withdrawal are extremely hard on the body, and symptoms of withdrawal generally result in significant physical pain and discomfort. As part of our comprehensive, pain-free medical detox program, we offer massage therapy to clients in order to help alleviate pain in the muscles and soft tissues. Individuals who have been suffering at the hands of an active addiction for any length of time will undeniably store a great amount of tension – and emotional pain – within the body. Our licensed and addiction-informed massage therapists help work these uncomfortable emotions through the body while alleviating tension and greatly reducing physical discomfort. Massage also works to improve blood flow, boost the immune system and significantly reduce inflammation.
Chiropractic Treatment
Chiropractic treatment is a highly effective alternative medicine, concerned with the treatment of the musculoskeletal system – namely the spine. Chiropractors will utilize hands on methods in an attempt to align the spine and therefore alleviate pain, reducing the need for medications or other invasive treatments. Active addiction takes a serious toll on the physical body. In many cases, individuals who are undergoing medical detox will benefit from ongoing chiropractic treatments. At Garden State Detox, our main goal is to make sure that no stone is left unturned, and that each individual client is receiving the comprehensive wellness-related care that he or she both needs and deserves.
Physical Therapy
In many cases, individuals who began abusing chemical substances will have initially started taking them in an attempt to self-medicate an underlying, pain-related issue. Chronic pain is a major trigger, and many do not know what the source of the pain is or how it can be effectively treated. Physical therapy plays a major role in facilitating the withdrawal process while actively treating any underlying, undiagnosed physical pain. Not only does physical therapy work to reduce pain and discomfort, but it helps improve mobility, works to prevent future injuries and helps clients avoid medications and more invasive treatment methods like surgical procedures.
